Default Wet Sanding

HI, i was wondering what kind of sandpaper i need to wet sand a car? is 2000 grit to fine or okay to use? also anyone have experience with using 3m rubbing compound and glaze? thanks

to sand the original paint off the car?
id start wit 320, 2k is way fine...

He is talking about wet sanding which you do to remove small scratchs or orange peel.

Ok to answer the question you can you 1500 or 2000 grit paper to wet sand the car. Just make sure you keep the sand paper and the paint surface very wet to prevent scratching/sanding through the clear coat. 3M products are some of the best out so thats what I would use. When you buff the car just make sure you don't keep it on any edges or corners for very long or you will burn through the paint.

i've always used 1500. it seems to work well.

Hey could someone do a write up for this. Would be something nice to know how to do ifit gets scratches off.

when u wetsand...i recommend using a small amount of dishwashing detergent to lubricate the sanding process.
