Heated debate at work
i have an 02 S2000
my friend has an 02 Cobra
that Cobra would eat my car alive
no comparison
It's scary fast and it handles really well also
I don't even think supercharging my S would make a difference
cause a SC doesn't really give much torque or any signifigant power gains until you hit vtec
by that time
that Cobra will be down the street

The strong point of the S2k is it's drivability. It's actually not a very good platform for squeezing out domestic-V8-killin' power. You'll need a pretty talented and alert (or money baggin') s2k driver to consistently beat even one of the newer Mustang GT's, much less a Cobra.

The Mustang Cobra (and most domestic muscle cars for that matter) are just tuned for 0-60 numbers and 1/4 mile times. Doing everything in the first 15 seconds of life, and then leaving an empty taste in your mouth. A car like the S2000 takes more skill to get the most out of it, because it is a driving car. Designed to take through the twisties and keep the engine at 6000 rpm all day. Try running a Cobra at 6 grand all day and you'll have holes in the block where the connecting rods broke through. I guess it's a matter of preference. Do you like the muscle and grunt of gobs of low end torque to dissapear after you hit 80, or do you like to play with the engine and get more out of the car? I personally like to have a little more fun with a car than just light up the tires. There's a stretch of roads in the Cuyahoga Valley that are perfect for that, and I've taken a few people through there with my car, and some muscle cars. There's just no comparison. Detroit muscle gets nervous and tires squeal when you try to row the gears though tight curves. Lack of ballance and a high center of gravity.
funny i ran across this thread, i raced a new GT a couple nights ago. i know im not the best driver, but the GT had me by two car lengths at 60 and kept on pulling. it didnt look or sound stock, but i got my ass kicked.

My point was that you are comparing super cars to not so super cars..... of course the Z06 and Viper should out everything an S2000. If they didn't I'd wonder what the hell I bought the car for!
Keep the apples and oranges separate, o.k.?
