Default Engine Vibration/Noise

When travelling at moderate speeds (2nd & 3rd gear).. If I release my foot off the gas pedal and allow the engine to drift in gear there is some considerable vibration. It sounds like exhaust noise but is beginning to concern me.

When I apply gas, or take the car out of gear the noise stops. I've bought the car used so its still under warranty. What is the order in which I should diagnose such a problem?

I'd be willing to bet that its a heat shield rattle. Does it happen at a certain RPM?

Default Yup

Yes.. It happens at certain RPMs and stops.. At real high RPMs the engine is screaming of course .. (which I like) But as the RPMs decrease there is a point where you hear a droning rattle of some kind and then it stops around 1500-2000 RPMs.

I'm about to take the car into be serviced so I'm making my list of things to check. The hardest part is trying to convey the problem clearly so I'm writing this all down.

Thanks..

Default Decelerating Buzzing Sounds

If your driving a 00 or 01 S2000, chances are you have gear backlash in the transmission. have your dealer apply Honda Service Bulletin 00-054 dated
27 November 2001. It corrects the problem by replacing a clutch disc in the transmission. I had it done on my 01, and it works fine now.

my car did that but it wasnt nothing minor.. an mines a 91 crx, an urs is s2000 which is a big difference, but i had a similar at excellerate it wuld scream an not shake, wen u wuld descelerate it wuld make a randling noise.. come to find out my rear motor mount pulled through the cross member an it was only being held on by 2 mounts, an it was screaming because the motor was shaking an my exhaust bolts snapped off at the header so it was basically open header.. so the ppl that put my new motor in the car didnt tightened one of the bolts in the rear mount so it was puttin stress on the 2nd bolt in the rear mount an it pulled through, but ur car suldnt of had ne motor mounts messed with.. jus my experience an 2 centss..
