I think the smartest thing they did with the RSX was give the Type S a 6 speed. It makes a difference. I know that the exhaust and intake on a type s will make a big difference. They are a "caged animal" from the factory with the restrictive exhaust. Once you free them up a bit they are fast. Same with the Mustangs, there is a great article in one of the Ford mags this month about how to boost the stock torque on the GT up 35 ft/lbs (dyno tested) and only spending $800 to do it.

Ya, I'm not a jerk about having a V8.....the whole idea of a discussion form is to be informative, not hurl insults. You can never be too careful what you race on the road, just because you have a Stang, it doesn't mean the other guy doesn't have the modifications to beat you. You're only invincable in a Stang once you drop a 427 or 460 big block in it.

Are you beating 99+ GT's in auto.....or the 94-98 GT's?? The GSR must have mods to take out 99+ GT's. As far as having an automatic I guess it depends on what you like......Mustangs are owned by a variety of people from 20's up to 50's +.... not everyone in their 40's and 50's want a standard because they've probably had their glory days when sportscars had big blocks in them. Honestly, I would have an auto if I lived in the city because driving a stick in traffic sucks.......however on hiways and country roads.....it's a blast.

I agree with the racing class thing, I let most guys go and just say screw it because it's not worth it. The odd time like in this case with the guy eating my bumper off I just thought I'd let him know that 8 cylinders don't just trott.

It depends whether they have a 5 speed or 6 speed. The 5 speed could be geared a bit better because the new GT's cary a long range in 5th gear. However, on top end if you could get up to higher speeds where the GT makes peak power it's gonna start to walk away.

I have found that the slightly modified RSX-S does very well with Mustangs when at a rolling start. The RSX has issue from a start as we just don't have the low rpm power. Let me roll along at about 40mph in third, a quick snap to second and it's a blast! From that point it's iVTEC until someone gets scared and lets off the go pedal. I have found that the average driver weenies out at 100mph or so. Either way, it's fun to know where you stand with a V-8, you must respect the V-8 and all of that yummy torque!

Know your Type S and you will do fine with a stock Mustang GT. As for you base RSX owners, especially the auto's... even I ignore them when they want to play.

I think Honda has done a very respectable job with this car. I don't have problems with any of the RSX-Ss, but I have yet to run into one with anything more than a cold air. No doubt in my mind that one will hand me my ass in the twisties tho....

yeah, but why tell that to RSX-S owners, most of them are smart enough to already know this unlike the many ricer civic owners.

it doesn't take a smart person to know that a V8 car with 300+ hp and ton of torque is going to kill a I4 with 200hp and even less torque even though the RSX has a weight advantage.

the only thing i can say is my buddies old 99 Z28 would smoke your GT. 12.9 in the 1320 with I/H/E and chip. i more of a stang fan myself, but the LS1 powered Z28s own 4.6 stangs.
