Default Everybody using 87 octane in their base RSX?

My girl is having all sorts or problems with hers. Dealer told her to use a higher octane. So we put Sunoco 94 octane in there when we can.

But doesn't the book call for 87 octane.

Now she's complaining that the car is not starting as quick and it's stalling out while at traffic lights. It just shuts off on her.

Anybody else having shiity results from the RSX? Any recalls or common problems that have come up?

I try to use a higher octane in my car, but there have been a few times that I've put in the lower grade, and I never had any problems with it stalling out or anything like that and I've had mine for over a yr h:

sounds like there is something wrong that higher octain is not the solution for. Bring it to the dealer and have them check it out. It may be some warranty item.

Higher octane reduces performance. The engine is designed to run at the octane specified in the owner's manual. Using 93 or 94 is stupid and a waste in the RSX. Jigga, her problems have nothing to do with octane...any half assed mechanic or enthusiast would tell you that. Take it to the dealer and demand they take a look at it.

I'm gonna take it to the dealer and get in their ass. They've been fukcing around with her car for the longest. She's been complaining to me about it for at least 6 months. I'm tired of her complaining so I need to go to the dealer and tell them to quit fukcing her over.

she even thinks they did something as stupid as to remove her original exhaust tip and put some other piece of crap dirty one on there.

and they want her to come back and buy a CL or TL. it's like they keep doing stupid shiit to this RSX of hers to try and push her to buy the CL/TL quicker. but I don't know why she would want to pay more for another Acura if the dealership mechanics can't get their shiit straight on this one.

Hmm, that doesn't sound right. Has she ever used any additive in her fuel or something? Maybe a clogged injector or something weird.

I'm with Nein on that, go to another dealer. The only reason to use a higher octane is to slow down combustion in a high compression engine. That's why the TypeS requires it. If the exhaust tip is dirty and black the car may be running richer than necessary, and that needs to be looked at. We had a bad O2 sensor that the dealer replaced in our S but that was over a year and half ago.

That whole runnin' rich thing sounds good. We're gonna look at the paperwork tonight from prior visits to see what they have done. They have done some exhaust work, though.
