RSX ?'s
Is the type s really worth it, i mean could i get a simmilarly equipped base then just advance the cam or something to avoid the high compression ratio and need for premium? what all is the difference between an optioen out base w/leather and the s besides the 6-speed and the extra 40hp? thanks for any information

Type-s has the 6 disc changer and cassette, but besides that, the 6 speed MT, and the 200hp, its the same. If you can live with 160hp, a 5 speed, and a single disc changer, there really is no point in getting the type-s in your case.

Doesn't the S handle a lot better, I was informed the suspension was different too...? It has to be cause the RSX-S has a lot stiffer, bumbier ride to it.... I :dunno:

You would end up spending the difference in price in aftermarket parts just to get the engine to the same horsepower, and then you would need to spend more for the suspension. The six speed is a closer ratio gearbox than the 5 speed also. I don't see that the cost of fuel is such a big deal in the S compared to the base, there is less than a 10% difference in price here. If you are easy on the throttle you still get an average of 28 mpg, and on longer drives we've gotten 32-33 mpg in the TypeS. Boosting performance with some aftermarket items may actually take away from the gas mileage.

You should buy a new civic Si. That seems like the car that would fit you best. Allthough I love my S.

the S and Base are totally different cars. I would go with a TypeS, its so much funner to drive than a Base, u would enjoy it more. For me, its like a Type-R i never had.

This is a little bit of thread-hijacking, but I didn't want to start a new thread. This guy at my school just got an '03 RSX base 5spd. I have a GSR (stock) that runs consistent 14.9-15.1. He wants to race me... how bad would I beat him? Thanks.

The GSR is at the advantage, especially if you run those et's. The fastest base is 14.909, and its heavily modded, so you should have little trouble, you should be able to hang with Type-S's too.
