Default RSX Type-S turbo

Hey, im thinking of getting a type-s and was wondering if i turbo it if i'm gonna have to change the head or put a thicker head gasket on it or even both..i know the rsx comes with around 11:1 compression ratio and usually thats a little high to be running a turbo. Any feedback appreciated

Matt

As long as low boost is run with a good tune using proper engine management, you can get away with stock compression.

I wouldn't recommend putting a thicker head gasket on to decrease compression.

alright cool..i was also thinking of maybe putting some lower compression pistons on it to lower the compression down to maybe 9.5...how many pounds of boost would i be able to run stock if i dont change compression?

Depends on the turbo. Different turbos flow different amounts of air, so it is more like how much power can I get from stock internals, not how much boost.

That question is too broad to even answer. It all depends on the engine management you are using and how competent the tuner is. I have seen over 500 whp out of stock internaled K series. It won't last long, but it can be done if tuned properly.
