Anyone know of Si getting stolen?
Read recently about the new report of most stolen cars in the country.. I see the '99 Civic Si high up there, always a top contender in these lists since that model was released 7 years ago.
But does anyone know where the '02-'05 Si's (EP3) rank?? And how easy is it these days for a modern vehicle w/ advanced engine immobilizer/theft deterent systems to get Hotwired and driven off?
Please forgive me for being naive on this topic, but I've been told by others (most of them selling Hondas for a living) that it's impossible to steal a 2000 model year on Honda without a spare key.. which I know can't be an accurate statement.

Its virtually impossible to start a car with an immobilizer (which is pretty much all Hondas at least 3 or 5 years old - can't remember), but you can still steal it by putting it onto a flatbed truck and towing it away. That's becoming a more and more popular way of stealing the cars, so an immobilizer will deter/prevent some thefts, but it won't stop everyone.

the immobilizers honda used pre-02' refresh models were crap. the dc5 and the ep3 both have completely wired systems that call apon the ecu to check, before it was just a unit in the column that can easily be removed. then it will start right up.
