RSX vs. Type S
#11
I have come across a great deal on a base model RSX. I was just wondering if I would be dissapointed if I bought it instead of a Type S. Will I honestly notice that much of a difference? It will more then likely be a daily driver. This one is loaded to, leather n all. What do you guys think?

Relevance is irrelevant
If you can get that good a deal on the base and you plan on doing some tuning down the road anyway, I say go for it.
In addition to being able to modify your RSX's engine to run more like an RSX-S's you can also convert the 5 speed tranny into a 6 speed, (see HondaTuningMagazine.com) or simply swap a 6MT from a salvage or something.

Hmmm...You got me thinking, Bluetwo. I might just get it! I mean there are several things that I can do to make the car run faster if needed. What would they be? ECU? bolt-ons?

Hondata makes a flash for the 02-05 base model (K20A3) and a flash for the 02-04 Type-S (K20A2)
With proper boltons, this flash will gain another 10hp I believe, it's more significant on the Type-S but still.

Yeah wtf, in MY05 the Type-S was barely $3,000 more than the base model with cloth seats.
I think OTD I could've gotten a base for like $20,000 and I ended up paying OTD (tax/title/reg) about 23k on my Type-S
Edit: I'd bet that base 5spd would be the less deseriable out of the base auto, base 5spd, and Type-S 6spd.

drive them both and you can clearly see which one is superior for your needs.
i have a s, my sister has a base, yeah i know weird but i bought mine first then she got hers.
driving her car you can definetly feel the difference in stability and power. the smoother ride is in her ride though for sure
