* For 2006, Acura is complying with the new SAE standard for measuring horsepower and torque. This new method slightly reduces a vehicle's horsepower rating and torque due to more stringent testing procedures.

Do you want to buy my 05? LOL

It's the same engine, K20Z1, same everything. Honda is complying with a change made by SAE (Society of Automotive Enginners) that was handed down in November 2004. The new testing methods eliminates the ability for manufactures to do small tricks to gain +2hp here and +4ft/tq there. It also mandates that an independent authority sign off on the testing to further ensure integrity of the results.

And it mandates that Honda hook up accessories such as A/C and PS to more or less show closer to real-world results.

I still say dyno every car at the factory and put the results on the sticker with the MSRP.

The new rating system does not always lower the rating. The new corvette Z-06 was re-rated at 505 horse instead of 500. Honda must have been inflating the numbers a bit to begin with.

The TSX is rerated at either 205 or 215, I can't remember. Point is it as rated at 200 from the factory. It saw an increase, Honda wasn't inflating numbers. More cars have "dropped" in power anyways.

When I bought my RSX-S I knew it would dyno at ~170whp, the sticker said 210 but the only thing I cared about was whp, I already knew what it was and I bought the car anyways.

You're an idiot.

I wasn't really calling anyone an idiot, lol. I was just copying 98CoupeV6.

You're not an idiot, it's just this topic has been covered like 4 times on here and about 9 billion over at ClubRSX.com. Check the Automotive News & Rumors forum for a more detailed explanation on the SAE issue.

Ok, heres my logic on the new rating system. The Zo6 was originally under rated from the factory at 500 horses, much like the srt-4 was underrated. the new rating system exposed this since it was re rated at 505. If Honda originally rated the rsx at 210 hp. and it was re rated at 201 then that means they over rated their engine. Does anyone find any fault in my logic? Please help me out.
