Default ep3 conversion questions

Anyone know where I can find good info on doing a 5 lug conversion on my '03 ep?

Also as I wanted to do an engine swap - would a K20A-R accept the same modifications (intake, induction, exhaust, etc) as the K20A2? If not, would I be better just swapping for the A2? I've heard different horse and torque quotes for the R engine also, could someone clear this all up for me?

Is your car a Si?

Maybe I can help you but you need to tell me which model is your car. There are no Siīs in Europe, but thereīs a five door version (EV1) with the K20 rated at 160bhp. This must be the engine on your car. EP3 in Europe and Japan are Type R's.

Normally the 5 lug conversion fits directly without any mods. We have Civic 3 door 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7 diesel with 5 lugs after 2003, and from what I have seen nothing has changed that much from their earlier 4 lugs versions. So I guess if you get either european, japanese or after 2003 american EP3 knucles, brake discs and hubs you will have your conversion done.

Also in Europe the K20A2 and A3 are the Type R engines (200bhp). The only difference between them is emissions and European homologation for polution standards. There also some changes to the valve train, like the first versions had double springs on the exhaust and intake valves but the later version have single springs and lighter valves.

The factory in the UK also does a special Type R version for Japan, this comes equipped with LSD, shorter gear ratio, higher lift cams, different ECU and less strict exhaust and kat. This engine rates at 215bhp, I donīt know the engine code tough but has to be K20something LOL!
And of course you have the K20's from the DC5, I know in Japan they rate 220bhp but Iīm not sure about the RSX Type-S, is it 210bhp?

And donīt forget that EP3 has 6speed gearbox in Europe and Japan. I found this great article http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache...i+ep3&hl=pt-PT

You can convert to 5 lug from the newer Si's but finding a suspension setup from one will be next to impossible. I would skip out on it until more time has passed for people to crash their Si's and have them end up in junkyards where people like yourself can get parts like that.

In terms of the engine swap, you would have less of a headache with everything if you just threw the K20A2 in there. Or you could just save yourself all that hassle and just turbocharge your current engine. h:

Don't worry about the engine swap, it's really not worth it. You can buy a nice turbo, or even do a good amount of modding to your k20a3 to make more power than an a2.

and also on the hubs/bearings/calipers from an RSX should all transfer right over.

Just find a salvaged TYPE-S and swap over the 5 lug and motor. Upgrading the brakes on the EP is one of the best things you can do. Now if I can only do the ABS, it'll be sweet. But it's an easy swap. You will need the axles, and hubs, etc. If you're still looking to swap the motor, it is worth it. A turbo is a nice idea but it's not very practical. The EP3 should have had the 200 power plant in to begin with!

Buy one in Europe and you'll have it
