Default 04 si, potential??

A guy i know just got a 04 si's in blue. How are those cars? Are they slow? I dont think he's going to put any power adders on it, mostly bolt ons. He want's to know what mods he needs to have to be able to take 99+ mustang gt, 02 celica gst, and 03 rsx-s. And does he have any chances against those cars with just bolt ons and no power adders?

The EP3 Si is a neat little car, but it's not a dragster, it was never meant to be, and turning it into one would entail more than bolt ons.

The DC5 RSX-S you mention is hardly a drag daemon, but it has 200 HP compared to the EP3 Si's 160 HP. It's not much of a contest, stock, and getting an extra 40 horses out of the K20A3 EP3 Si motor would probably entail more than bolt ons.

It's a neat, fun little car that should probably be enjoyed for what it is. It's just a neat, sporty little economy car.

My own EP3 has 44,000 miles on it, now, and I catch my mind wandering to K20A and K20A2 conversions.

Although I am not a fan or expert as far as turbocharging, it's my understanding that it's a cheap way to go for power on the K20A3.

That is to say, you'd spend about $3000 on turbocharging the EP3 to get the same thing a $4500 JDM K20A conversion would give you.

K20A = Motor for DC5 ITR and EP3 CTR in some markets, but not all. This would be the "Integra Type R" that looks like an RSX and the "Civic Type R" that looks like the US Civic Si of the '02-'05 type. About 220 DIN HP in 2004.

K20A2 = Motor for DC5 RSX Type S, Australian Integra Type R, and Civic Type R in some markets. About 200 DIN HP in 2004.

K20A3 = Motor in US RSX base model, Canadian RSX Premium model, and US Civic Si of the '02-'05 era. About 160 DIN HP in 2004.

EP3 = Chassis code for USDM Civic Si of '02-'05 era.

Other chassis codes you'll see a lot of:

BB = Honda Prelude

DC2 = Integra of '93-'01 era.

EG = Civic hatch of '92-95 era.

On and on....
