I agree, when it did happen in my case it wasn't really a full-out grind like if you let the clutch out too soon. It's more of a roughness with a more muted "grind-like" sound, if that makes any sense...

And yeah, I think the issue is overblown as well, but only from my own personal experience...

well i have an 04 civic si and it has a first to second grind also i thought it was just me.

Our 02 TypeS had a notchy feeling going from 1st to 2nd, never really a grind. Itwasn't present all the time and went away once the car was warmed up.
The 04 TypeS we haven't noticed it.

Now I'm always a sucker for a high RPM launch (ala WRX STi), but it might be that some of these people were habitually launching high.

Honestly I don't see what that would have to do with problems shifting into 2nd or 3rd... :dunno:

Is this problem still evident with synthetic trans fluid? Syn has better cold properties, just curious
