Default grinding in 3rd...

well..i got a new tranny a while back and ever since then 3rd gear grinds when you shift pretty fast at a high rev. the higher the rev, the harder the grind it seems. it'll go in there, just not smoothly.

i've heard this is a somewhat frequent problem and if anyone knows how to fix it, let me know!

it's a big pain in the ass and sounds like poo from someone watching. thanks!

yaya
sounds like the ole synchro is shot on that gear

does it happen when engine/tranny is cold or hot or always?

someone probably repeatedly ground the **** outta it when they owned the car. or are u the first owner?

anyway, my h23a1 tranny has almost 200k miles and it only grinds once in a while when cold on 2 and 3...

actually it doesnt do it anymore since i checked my shift linkage and found a goddamn washer missing on the 1-2 3-4 5-R axis, previous owner prob had a short shifter and dropped the washer below the linkage base plate when he took it out.

btw i beat the shit outta my tranny
