Default H23 vs. H22

What is the major diff. between H23 and H22, besides liters? Is H23 SOHC, VTEC? I know H22 is DOHC VTEC. What year did the 'Lude have the H23? Also, what models did the H23 come in, 92-96 Si?

H23 only in the 92-96 si .... its a DOHC nonVTEC but i believe you can put an H22 head on and have a 2.3L DOHC VTEC

i dont see the point in putting a h22a head on a block that is not safe past 6700 rpm, as opposed to 8500 on an h22a

(8500 is highest ive heard of a stock h22a/1 reving to before popping a valve spring and retainer)

this doesnt count me downshifting to 2nd at 95mph and hitting 11k, (engine was under no load)

i guess the natural advantage and appeal is more torque?

i dont know, more displacement with that head spells more power overall, but dont forget the h23a1 crank is designed to make power lower, not higher when VTEC is key.
really now what good is 1500 rpms of VTEC?
no good
besides, compared to an h22a1...an h23a1 has a "weak" bottom end.
i had TWO h23a1's that blew a #2 CR bearing
AND
i know TWO other people near me who blew the same bearing around the same mileage on the same engine.

h23a1 is resilient tho, both of the blown h23a1's i worked on kept running until i pulled em out, on 3 cylinders blowing shit loads of smoke, but they never stalled.

here i will attach an image of one of the #2 bearings...
