Default exhaust?

What are the pros and cons of getting a universal muffler as opposed to a real catback on my generation 5?

A lot of noise with a muffler and NO power gains noticible
not if you count 1.5-3 hp to the wheels a noticible gain
so if you want the real thing, i'd go with the Apex N1 cat backs or like me, get the 5Zigen fireball
a got like 15 to the wheels with the 5Zigen and i heard the N1 gets a little more
great throaty sound too, no rice farts with a catback
you can't go wrong

mufflers do nothing for performance, they're just obnoxious lookin...might as well get the performance for the price you're paying in sound, police harassment, and every 15 year old kid with a permit revving you at every light.

The N1 is nice, but loud.

15 to the wheels? You have a dyno to prove that? I doubt you got that much with just a catback system.

i was thinking the same thing...i think 5 to the wheels is a tad bit more believable, though still "high"

mm yeah most cars get around 4-8 hp gains from that and 8 is pretty but sometimes it happens.ya must of added something else when that happend. i would recommend the apex n1 even tho it is loud i have never been bother by the police because i drive like a normal person. as long as u dont rev ur engine at every stop you will be fine.

he said "like 15 to the wheels". his butt dyno must not be calibrated correctly.

go to local muffler shop and get a magnaflow exhaust with 2.25"-2.5" mandrel piping. same as cat-back but might cost only $300-$350 total with labor

if that's the case, get the teins, and keep your stock exhaust. The suspension will make a much bigger difference than the catback. (depending on what you're planning to do)

i was gonna get an RS-R but i realized that i don't want to spend that much money (yet) and would rather have Tein HA's instead, so that's what i done did.
