I suppose that you can call the company and ask them, I think that the Apex-i N1 should be leagal.

all exhaust systems designed to be placed rearward of the catalytic converter and do not delete any of the oxygen monitoring systems are 50 state legal.

catbacks and mufflers do not alter emissions whatsoever, and do not require CARB approval... much like headlight bulbs or shifter knobs.

the only problem you may run into is noise. most jurisdictions have specific rules pertaining to noise emitted from a car's exhaust system. the Tanabe Racing Medallion and Apex'i N1 canisters are common offenders of noise laws without their silencers installed.

I'm going to go ahead and agree with drift on this one.

Also... as a rule of thumb, if it's legal in cali or listed as "california legal" then it's probably legal anywhere. Not always true, but cali does have some of the most strict laws for that shizzle.

I'll give ya the 411 on the Tanabe super racing medallion. I put one on my 5th gen lude, and god damn that thing is loud. I'm sure that if I was pulled over and had to do a sound test, i would pass miserably. BTW, i dont run with my silencer in haha. with the silencer in, you can barely hear it. I mean the silencer works that well, but when its out, I set off car alarms just driving down the street. Not too sure about the N1, although I've heard that is loud also. Just to let you know also, I've driven by Numerious (prolly 50) cops since I've put my exhaust on and so far I have not been pulled over. all you gotta do is go light on the accelerator and not punch it. Also, might want to switch gears lower, like around 2500 to keep the noise down. Good luck! =]

To be totally honest, i'm not really sure. reason being is because, I've only had the silencer on once, and it was for about 5 minutes. I put it on, revved up and hated the sound. gave it more of a raspy and really really quiet sound, so I just took it back out. Haven't really driven with the silencer on before, but I'll do it tonight and post another reply to tell you how it is. If I were to guess about it, the fact that it makes it super super quite kinda tells me that it will resrtict quite a bit. and it has a damn snug fit, so i'm sure almost no exhaust is going around the silencer, only through it. Post later tonight though, off work at midnight pacific time. =]

any gains made with the exhaust system alone is cancelled out by the silencer.

this i have seen on 3 different cars, a 1999 Civic EX with a B16 swap, a 2000 ITR, and a 1997 Prelude. all of them gained about 2-4hp with the exhaust on the dyno, but lost all of it when the silencer was installed.

Well.. that sucks...

I have an exhaust system on my current car... and I hate it. Too annoying, too loud.

Problem is, I'll want the performance gains from getting the exhaust done, without the aggrivating noise. I've seen several ads, with companies claiming their exhaust is the quietest, with the most gains possible..

Need personal experience- My goal - close as possible to stock sound, but best gains. Suggestions? What about installing resonators?

Has anybody just gutted out the stock cats and left the stock exhaust... i was thinking on doing that just to get a nice exhaust note... i really dont care about emissions cuz my best friends father owns a inspection station. So i get inspections like that. But just wondering has anyone tried it... i think it would make a sick exhaust note...
