this i have seen on 3 different cars, a 1999 Civic EX with a B16 swap, a 2000 ITR, and a 1997 Prelude. all of them gained about 2-4hp with the exhaust on the dyno, but lost all of it when the silencer was installed.

I have an exhaust system on my current car... and I hate it. Too annoying, too loud.
Problem is, I'll want the performance gains from getting the exhaust done, without the aggrivating noise. I've seen several ads, with companies claiming their exhaust is the quietest, with the most gains possible..
Need personal experience- My goal - close as possible to stock sound, but best gains. Suggestions? What about installing resonators?
