Default Lowering my 99

Hi guys...

I am thinking about lowering my Prelude and throwing on some nice rims...

I need everyone's advice.

I want to lower it, but keep as smooth a ride as possible. I don't want to slam it, just lower it nicely...I may also put on a Wings West RS Kit.

What route should I go when lowering it? What components should I get or what do I need?

Thanks

I'll give you my advice, but it may not be the absolute best way to go. I have Ground Control with KYB shocks (adjustable on the back and gas on the front). For rims I have 18" Racing Harts with 205-35-18s. I also have the Wings West RS kit. The ride isnt so bad, as long as I watch out for big bumps and potholes. It takes the backroads like its on rails. It can only be so smooth with suspension mods, but it sits exactly where I want it, with no gap. Ill put a picture up so you can see, as soon as I figure it out.

I have the koni adjustable shocks with ground control coilovers. My car is slammed on 17 in katana c5 rims, im talkin like no gap at all and the ride is actually really good its not the smoothest but its lets u feel the road. I think that setup would be the way to go cuz my car rides pretty good slammed and you said u just wanted to be nicely lowered. I did drive the car around with this setup before it was slammed and it rode extreamly smooth. But if you want killer handleing and a good ride go koni and ground control.

Personally I say spend the $$$ and get the Mugen/Showa coilovers. From all experiences I've read and discussed with owners it's a VERY nice ride that lets the car still feel civil. Second would certainly be theGC/Koni yellow combo, followed by some set of TEINs.

tein ss are great for ludes. You can find them for around $850-900 and its a full coilover system so the springs and struts are made for each other.

a 'nice ride' is subjective and will vary for different individuals. my advice is if you lower it do springs and shocks at the same time(disregard if you use full coilovers examples:teins, JIC) otherwise it's an easy way to bend expensive rims. recommendation: look into JIC as well as Teins. teins variety will accomodate any budget. if you go 18's do 7.5 inch width with a 225/35/18 or a 215/40/18 tire. i can tell you from personal experience they give plenty of cushion for the 18s. Good luck. Go with some nice rims, they will make or break the look of the car!

If you want a cushier ride, i'd say go for the Tein SS coilovers. They are supposed to be sporty but close to stock interms of ride quality.

So far as rims go, i'd go 17s or 16s because most 18's i see are heavy.

I'm about to get the Tein HA's and 17" Rota Attacks on 215/40/17 Yoko AVS ES100's. I'm also thinking about the FNRC-1's.

The OEMS get saved for track day and get a new set of Azenis.
