Default *Help* Transmission Problem.. PLease Help.

Hey, can anyone help me with a transmission problem im having? I have a 97 prelude with the shift-tronic sport shift automatic transmission and my Malfunction Indicator Lamp came on twice, the first time i had my mechanic run a diagnostic, and he reset it, and told me to let him know if it comes on again. The light came on this after noon and i was using the sequential sport shifter and started in first after a light but hit an unexpected bump (new orleans roads are terrible) and the bump threw the car foward and my foot to floor the pedal, i think that since i didnt manually shift it to second.. something happened with the transmission. I am very p*ssed off:madfawk: b/c i have only had the car for a couple of weeks, and since it is used, i thought it could be, b/c the transmission is old.... If anyone has any clue or ideas, or needs more information on it, PLEASE let me know ASAP. My AIM s/n is: ibakedtalapiai. My E-mail: musicjunky730@yahoo.com. If anyone could please let me know what the problem is, please help. THANKS A LOT.

Default sorry, it was unclear

Hello again.. i was told it wasnt clear... soo.. ill explain it as it happened...

I was leaving a friends house, and i stopped at a stop sign and as i pulled off... i hit a bump in the raod, which threw the car forward, and made me put my foot down which redlined the RPM's and then then the transmission put itself back into to Automatic and the "D4" light started flashing... everything works perfectly still, even the sequential sprt shifter.... please help?

My dad has a 2000 TL with that and he said that unlike a real manual it won't mess up your engine. it could be a bad sensor, but i don't think it's even possible to mess anything up by not shifting out of 1st. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, but still get an engine code.

i dont understand what the problem is , i mean you reved high in first, and the d4 lite flashed. if u didnt know, there is a rev limiter on the sequential sport shift w/ the lude, so if u dont shift for whatever reason, it shifts for you. so, it just made the shift to second.

it still works(from what i understood)

whats the problem?

I definetely agree with this guy...the Prelude SportShift is stupid proof. It won't let you down shift if you're not at the right RPM and it won't let you over rev either. Sounds like an electrical problem if anything else. BTW with the SportShift, if you use it a lot I'd recommend a transmission cooler, or change your tranny fluid more often (ever 15,000 or so....drain and fill don't flush!)
