JRSC for SH
I am very interesting in putting a Supercharger on my 98 SH, mainly because I found some good prices. The car has about 73K on and when I told some people of my plans, they warned me not to. They suggested selling my car and getting a faster one because the engine would not last much longer after supercharging.
My question is what kind of depletion in engine life should I expect with a JRSC? Has anyone had any problems after installing one? I just want to do my homework before buying.

The car will take a JRSC but there are added risks. If it's run at safe levels of boost 6psi you should be fine, but run the 9psi pulley and you can have problems. Personally I agree, the dollar/hp ratio of a 5th Gen Prelude blows. I'm pretty much done modding the car and certainly finished with mods for power.
Thanks for the input THATPRELUDEGUY.
Epoxy, I always thought turbos could be a lot more harmful to an engine and more internal work needs to be done in order to handle the power. Superchargers are a quick, easy bolt on with instant, responsive power. Turbos are more involved as far as installation and also have turbo lag. Pricing is about the same for the actual units, but because of the need to upgrade internals, the supercharger seemed less expensive. Am I wrong?

Supercharging is safer than turbo for sure. You should not have any problems with reliability with a SC.

actually they are both forms of forced induction...to run higher boost on either one you would have to build the motor.
you are right about turbo lag but then again you do have an h22 trust me there really isnt that much lag....the sc & turbo are about the same price but honestly i would go with the turbo
there is always the instant response of NOS!!!!!!

SC may be around the same price and maybe a little easier to install, but if you are going to spend that much $$, you want to get a better $$ : HP ratio.
I'm not sure how much money you have to throw down, but if you want more bang for your buck, get the turbo. Sure you might have to get a few other parts to make it more reliable, but once you've done that, you're set.

if turbo's are so bad for your engine and the aren't reliable, etc... why are there so many of them out there on factory built cars? semi trucks dont use superchargers, neither do those old diesel mercedes (dont know the model.) Turbos are more economical and reliable I think, or else we would see alot more of them. Also, turbos are way more fun to show off
. (blow off valve, and you can hear it spool up) thats just my opinion.
