Car rpm surging!@!@!@!@
Alright, I have a 93 VTEC, I just had my ignitor module chip (inside the distributor) replaced the other day along with the ignition coil due to car dying while driving. Now its been a week and during a 45 minute commute, my car is jumping rpms. for example, my rpm need is rising towards 3000 rpm and then all of a sudden it jumps to 4000 rpm and then back to 3500 rpm. Does this through all gears and even cruising in 5th. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
My old old 86 Prelude that my roomate has now does that. I hated when it does that, plus every ricer is town hears it, thinks you are revving and takes off like a bat out of hell at the light. =D
Thanks for the replies guys.,
Well, this surge is weird because the engine does not react to it. It seems like an electrical problem. with some ones advice, I removed the wires and reinstalled them and it seems as the problem went away, but I didn't drive my car that long (45min) lately. I ordered some plugs since my car is approaching 100k on the orginial plugs, lets see if this fixes it.

I'm pretty sure it the tps because I recently swap in a F22B non vtec DOHC into my accord and the Check engine light was on I put the code and it gave me 3 code. 006. 007, and 014 which was Engine coolant temperature, Throttle position sensor, and Electronic air control valve. I took the car for a test drive after letting the cams break in. I started to go above 2,000rpm it suddenly cuts me off and starting surging felt like I hit redline.I soon relies that there was an adjustment on the tps. So I adjusted to the rights voltage which was .5V then clear the code and it drove like normal.
well from talking to him as I understand it, he will be driving, and the rpms on the tach will drop and raise out of nowhere, but the car doesnt actually slow down, which leads me to believe it is something electrical with the tach. And he also said it was not something that was consistent, it was random. I told him to check the wire for the tach going onto the grey plug by the distributor and he said it was fine, anyone else have any ideas?
