99 Prelude , buy? CarFax? Help?
Well I was thinking of trading my 98 Accord for another car, 'lo and behold when I went to see a 02 RSX at a Mazda dealer today they just got in a 99 Prelude (black) it has 70k miles and they are asking $13,995 (I can prolly get them to come off that some) it only has a rear bumer side scuff they said they would fix.
THe only other thing is the top of the steering wheel is worn due to either where the driver kept his hand or sun damage (I'll assume if it bothers me that much I can find another wheel at a junkyard later on).
I still need a quote from my insurance co. My 98 Accord which O we $7708 they offered $9000 trade in (75,000 mi), its a 5 speed.
Does this sound pretty ok? And does anyone have a CarFax account so they can run a CarFax on the VIN?

My last Prelude was a 86 Si so I'm really tempted but I want to make sure it's an ok car. Will Pep Boys look at the car to make sure it's ok too?

dont take it to pepboys for an inspection. take it to a Honda dealer.
as for your trade in, you're about 15k miles over the average mileage. you can look up the trade-in value at www.nadaguides.com considering you didnt list enough info about your car for anyone else to do an estimate.

Thanks. I did look at the car the other day, I think the guy who had it drove it a little too hard not to say it wasn't a good car though either.
That said, I went to look at a 97 Prelude SH today (driven by a woman in her 50s who traded it in for a G35) 78,000 for $10,900
VIN on that (if anyone wants to help again =D) JHMBB6156VC013355
It's got (not!) cracked black leather seats too, tight ride with what looks like normal wear a tear. Provided everything checks even with a CarFax I may trade in my 98 Accord for it tomorrow.

Yup leather seats..not cracked which most cars I see that are that old are cracked at least somewhat, these aren't.
I'm pretty excited about it since I havent had a Lude since my 86 Si, but that said I'm trying to be sure it's a good car since even though my Accord coupe is an Accord, it's been a good car too.
