lowered yet more comfortable
I'm looking to lower my prelude. 4th gen. I've heard good things about GC coilovers, anyone know a typical price for these? Other suggestions? I'm limited on budget, unfortunatly. I'm aiming for some new 17" rims/tires for around spring time and I'd like to get it lowered a bit... not much... pot holes and poor paving and steep hills are all over here in NEPA. I'm looking for about a 0.5-1" drop. Daily driver with some agressive street driving. Probably never be tracked and if I ever race anything it'll probably be from a stop light.
I'm looking for something that will give a better visual appeal and a bit more of a stiffer yet comfortable ride than the old stock suspension.
I'm open to ideas... even though the wallet might just laugh in my face. I'd love to hear some ideas.

Since you do not need coilovers for what you want to do with the car and the amount of drop you are considering-don't do it that way. Go with springs and shocks only. I have Neuspeed SPort on my 99 and Koni shocks-great ride and they work on the track at Pocono too. Others will suggest the Eibach Prokit or H&R. Those are also good choices-but I have a preference that I know works (tried the Prokit at took 'em off). The shocks are just as important and I'm very biased about this-it is Koni for me, period.
They are worth every penny you pay for them for both ride control and comfort. The warranty is no nonsense (forever basically).
For a 1" drop you can go with some very interesting parts-but why bother. I know where you are and the Neuspeed Sport springs will do fine even with 17" rims. If you think it is bad there, come to Pittsburgh
. One last thing-for ANY drop you will need a 4-wheel alignment. If over 1" there is a possibility that you will need Camber kits. They can be a wise investment anyway. You got Q's-drop me an e-mail.
Happy Luding

Yea, I forgot to mention that Koni shocks are what most people seem to say is the best. Any idea how much those go for on average?
I was looking for coilovers so that I could adjust the height... cause I'm really not sure what it would look like with a half inch drop vs a 1 inch... etc. Maybe I should look to see if they have a happy medium like .75 inch.
I just ordered an AEM CAI for my car and should be here thursday, so the suspension will have to be saved up for. Trying to do some ahead planning so I know how much I need to save up for this stuff.

Send me your e-mail address and I'll send a pcture of my car on pit road at Pocono-that is a good clue.- I have several speed shots at Watkins Glen that show how the car plants in the "esses".
The price for Koni "yellow" Sport shocks ranges fron around $525 to $625 for 4 delivered. They do offer only a slight amount of adjustability-but you have to take them off. The front of a 5th gen is very sensitive to this particular change as the clearance stock is nothing to rave about. From what I've seen even 4th gen's have low clearnace up front. I will add that I do not think that a 1" drop is ideal-but I'm biased toward what my car looks like.

eibach prokit with agx struts. they're really cheap at www.coximport.com and they're a very reliable combination.
it gives you about a 1" drop and the struts are adjustable for rebound.
