Gutting cat?

Well, it is one big bang for the buck. The handling is awsome. But, it has alot of tourqe. So, its not hard to get it loose. The 2001 do burn oil some. But, it is because the piston rings. But, you cant beat 0-60 in 4 seconds for around $50,000 new. So, I am happy with and and been through 2 sets of tires allready ;(

Stock catalytic converters nowadays are actually pretty good, but if anything I would change to a hi-flow model instead of gutting your old one cuz gutting them will acutally create more backpressure in your system and cause you to lose power 9 times out of 10. when the exhaust gas comes out of a 2 1/4 inch pipe into a gutted cat that is 3-5 inches in diameter, it slows down the exhaust gas because of the larger space and creates the backpressure. Definitely not what you want

get a test pipe. it saves you money in the long run as you wont have to buy a replacement cat later on if you should have to return it to legal status.
plus, you can get a test pipe on ebay for less than $50.

Or you can just go to your local hardware store, get a piece of pipe, and do it that way, have someone weld it on for you, and you're out the door with no cat for $20. It works, and its good. Just make sure the welder does a good job, or you will have an exhaust leak.
