coilovers
i have a 98 prelude- i recently came across a set of arospeed coilovers REALLY cheap. they can drop up to 4 inches- how far can i go (on stock car) without new shocks or messing with camber? Does anybody know or have experience with these either- i only know Arospeed from the CTR they have and not much about the company or its products.
In a nutshell-and from experience-you can drop about 1" without anthing being a problem. Over that and you begin to enter the serious upgrade zone. If you want to drop a 5th gen more than 1.5" be prepared to scrape driveways and speed bumps. You should also consider that stock shocks were not designed to last or even work properly with a large drop.
I've written this before-for EVERY 1" of drop there will be ~0.75 degrees of negative Camber. That means that at 1.5" or more you probably will need camber kits to get the suspension back to what Honda specifies. I assure you that the ONLY way to know this for certain is to get the car aligned after you do the lowering-you need to anyway to reset the toe-in.
As to brand of coilover-you do get what you pay for. I prefer either Skunk2 or Ground Control with Koni shocks for my race car. If that is not a solid option then consider using Neuspeed Sport (H&R too) springs for a very nice drop and comfy ride. The Neuspeed Sport springs give my 99 SS a very good stance and they work well with the Koni "yellow" shocks both on the open road and for track days (HPDE).
Good luck and happy holidays

Pardon for intrupting, but do you have any suggestions of places to get Skunk2 or GC coilovers and Koni shocks? I've heard from many many people that this is almost "the" combination to have and that it gives a good ride.
For Skunk2 products contact them and ask for a dealer in your area. Ground Control will sell direct (check their ad in the magazines), but ask the mail order shops like Ultra Performance in Tucson (that's where I get my Koni shocks)as well.
i run koni 'yellow' coilovers with h&r springs... it's great. i have it lowered ~1.5 .... geting a camber kit in a month or so.
but my setup is wonderful. provides nice stiff handling with a soft smooth ride.

Hey, jc736 , do you have pics of your car with koni yellow and neuspeed sports ? I'm running koni yellow and prokit right now and the drop is not even. Thinkking of switching my eibach for neuspeed sports. Thanks
I agree,Skunk 2 and ground control coils kick because they are used in competitive racing.I use neuspeed race springs in my 93 lude and I love them the only thing is I started auto-crossing this year and coilovers would have been nice because I could have upgraded my rear spring rates(these two companies have this option gc more than skunk2).If you are just cruising than go with a lowering spring like neuspeed or H&R.If you're going to get competitive get the gc or skunk2.
