type-s tranny better then stock?
have a 98 prelude sh.. geting new tranny.. would stock be same as the type-s tranny. just curious.

Is the car at the dealer or independent shop? If at dealer and you are getting a "new" tranny" under warranty-go that way. Many Honda transmissions are supplied brand new in the crate as Honda dealers do not rebuild them for warranty claims and Prelude trannys are not very plentiful due to the small number of them out there.
If you are not in warranty and can find a transmission it is going to be your decision, but you need to be certain that the 'jdm' gearbox is identical to the US ATTS unit. Personally, I'd stick with stock on an SH or a Base.
As a side note-my Civic is getting a brand new 5 speed as that is the only way they are available from Honda regardless of warranty (mine is awarranty claim).

well.. i'm geting a stock on from a dealer ship. it's used.. like 7000 miles on it... not too bad.
they only give a 30day wrnty on it.. hope everythign goes well.. the place that is doing it is very reputable... thanks for the info.
