Code P0740 (prelude)
Hey I know this code has been discussed many times. I read most of the threds, problem for me though is it has not been discussed on the Prelude forum and that is what I drive I have a 98 prelude auto tranny 4cyl.
I don't know too much about cars for I just got this code on my car P0740 along with P01738 and P0700. I know on the accords if you have a v6 your kinda screwed but with the v4 it prob is the solenoid. Any advise on my preludes having this problem would be great.

Thanks for the site it did elabrate a little more on the codes then this other site I found.
Could be electrical don't hold your breath. I would getting a book from http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp? thy are the true Honda manual its about 30 steps to diag all the p0700 codes you have.
if I had to guess your tranny is toast! you can try and change your fluid and see what comes out it and if it smells burnt and refill with honda fluid and pray. but the prelude SS is famous for failing...
Honda posted a service bulletin on the problem and did a warrenty on the Tranny contol modual but my car is too old. I don;t think my tranny is fucked I the the TCM needs to be replaced and from what I found it looks like the igintion interlock is what fucks up the TCM and Honda has an open recal on that any prelude like mine they will fix that part for free but not the TCM.
Erm... moved to Prelude forum (?)
