Advice/Opinions needed, Please *smiles*
Good morning, I have a deal in the works which I must either complete or reject on Friday, April 6th.
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger, 4cyl, basic well-running truck.
Someone I work with is offering a trade for a 1991 Prelude which needs a little work. (the actual deal is Truck + $500 for the Prelude)
Things I know about the Prelude-
Salvaged Title, cleared. It was in a front end accident on the passenger side. from a distance it looks pretty good, replaced front bumper, lights actuate and illuminate.
190k miles on the car, engine replaced about 20k ago.
-Needs muffler replacement.
-Needs paint (minor worry, it's just faded and mismatched where the front bumper was replaced and somewhat painted)
-Driver's mirror wiggles annoyingly within it's housing.
-Wheels need to be balanced.
-at 50MPH+ there is a lot of vibration, likely due to wheel balance issues.
-Shifting is pretty smooth, but 75% of the time I feel/hear a slight grind shifting into 5th. Current owner said he hasn't felt it, but he tends to wait a second between pressing the clutch and moving the shifter.
-Hood prop rod is not connected at the body end, I can see where I think it connects to the frame, no idea how to get it through the hole.
-Braking is uniform, no pulls to either side, no shudders.
-set of 18" OZ rims with well treaded sneakers (8 months on the tires).
Before I agree to the deal, Im looking for a ballpark idea of what things will cost should they become an issue, and whether they can be done by myself, or if they require special tooling/procedures... in specific-
-Exhaust/muffler system. (bolt on header-back replacement?)
-Shocks/struts replacement
-Clutch
-Sunroof trim replacement (occasional leak, rubber is wearing bad)
-Wheel bearings (shooting in the dark here, incase the balancing doesnt fix the vibrations)
Any other hints of things to look at would be appreciated, Thanks!

dont sell a car you know well for that... if those are the only things he knows it needs.. you could end up spending double. I bought my car needing nothing.. but as 2 years have went by so many things have gone wrong.. i've spent a fortune on maintenance, I would buy one that looks to be in better shape and then have it inspected.
Honda is doing free inspections for the month of april, so have the car checked out there!

DO NOT DO IT! I bought my lude with 170k on it I had to replace the struts and springs within the first week of owning it! and halfway across the country my engine blew up and needed replaced. I bought my lude for $5000 had the engine replaced for another $5000, new suspension deal for $2000, and LOTS of seals replaced for another $1000, that now makes my lude $13,000 the same price as a stock Scion xB. >:O and guess what? my lude still DOES NOT WORK! *slams head into table*
