Should I Sell the Lude?
Im debating on whether I should sell my 5th gen lude. Its not that Im tired of it. It feels like I hit a dead end with it. I have SMSP headers on it with a 2.5" exhaust, intake and pulleys. WWRS kit, rims and all the other goodies. I was going to go to the next step and put in cams, intake manifold and do an obdI swap and tune it with crome. Then I thought about it and that would cost me over 1200 easy. The lude has mid 90k on it and its fwd. I dont think its worth putting all the money into a front wheel drive car.
So I was considering on selling it and using the money to get something RWD or AWD this way it will be worth throwing money into. I want something with some more power.... especially torque. So basically anything around the 10,000 dollar range. I'll post some pics of the lude later on so maybe i can get some better pricing estimates. The only cars that matched and I liked were the WRX or the IS300. Any ideas on how these compare to the lude? Is it worth selling my lude and getting one of these

I had the same problem. I considered selling my prelude after owning for 2 years because I wanted to get more into autocross and I was afraid being FWD its potential wasnt that great. I looked around, saw some nice mr2's and s2000s and other small agile rwd cars. I thought about it and after thinking it all over I decided I will keep the prelude. It may be fwd, but with a good suspension setup it can handle very very well on the track. It was abig debate and if I had the money I might have sold for an s2000 and put a hard top on it.
I thought about it and came to the conclusion if I've spent all this money getting my car up to my standards and just the way I like it, I might as well continue. I can always get a 2nd car when I get older for the track only, and most of the rwd's I liked were cars that would be a little bit of a pain to drive daily. I just fell into the "any car can be fast, its all about the driver" idea and I will wait until I can get a really nice performance car before going rwd...
have you ever driven an ae86 or similar? You could set one up for 10k and have a lot of fun..
good luck.

Im not thinking of selling cuz i want a car that will fly around the track.. Its more of wanting some more power and the joy of spinning the rear wheels. Sometimes i jus feel like im missing out with a fwd car with no low end power. I've never driven an ae86 but thats too raw of a car for me. I was thinking more of a rwd car thats also comfortable to be driven normally. Thats why i mentioned the is300 or wrx. How does the prelude compare to those two or any other rwd car in the 10 price range.
The is300 will be more comfortable over bumps because the suspension is more advanced(from what I've found). when the prelude is set up for the track it can be fast, the rear wheels can rotate(the car can oversteer) if you get stiff springs or a big sway bar. It will be rougher but the handling can compare from I have found.I know little about the wrx other than its sick.. I wouldnt buy a used one! Think about the average user.. they must have driven it like a jerk! The same goes for an evo. Its goofy, but consider the mini cooper. The "john cooper works" or the new performance model have 200+ hp, handle great, make decent power in low revs considering the 1.6L displacement, and are still economic. They are only about 2600lbs. If you need a car thats a wrx/evo size.. then that will change things. I was looking into smaller cars for my own use.
