Default Oil Cooler Gasket leak??

I reciently spung a pretty bad oil leak (driving : at the rate of 2 qt's in 10 min.) the car is a 97 sh with 154,000 I jus got it a week ago...and then this happens. While running a stream of oil ran from under the oil cooler(behind the oil filter ) i was jus wondering if anybod else has had this problem...

honda says its pretty common problem with these models. cold weather is suposed to be a factor in this also.... (the gasket was brittle and flattend )

so I go to replace the gasket the other day, only to find that the gasket i recived was slightly larger than the space it fits in ... so im going to attempt to get another and see if that will work.

Really? Wow that sucks...

I have a 97 SH also, I got ~134k miles... I got the car in August and never once had a prob with it. I do all my own work and only had to do oil changes so far on my car...

Thanks for the pointer... Could the previous owner have done the damage by over tightening the oil filter? On my EG w/ B16 I have the same oil filter and oil cooler setup, and have never heard of that happening...

i bet your replacement gasket will be the same as the one you currently have none of the oil filter base gaskets fit to well use some honda bond to kind of hold it in place and put it back together
