where is the gas smell coming from underneath to inside the car,the muffler seem fine.

 

Have you checked for any leaks? Last time this happened on my b16 was because one of the O-rings on the injector went bad and when the car was running, there was gas pouring down the intake mani and the back of the head. I also noticed it from the strong smell that came inside of the car. Hope this helps somewhat

Is the engine running differently/worse? Where do you smell the fuel the most? Under the hood? Any recent repairs? What year and engine?

 

under the car and recently the check light came on the car is ok.not from the hood it a 96 si

 

If the smell is coming from beneath the car, you prolly need to put it up on jackstands and inspect the fuel lines for any damage. If those look good, inspect the vapor and fill tubes (where you put the gas in) to see if they are OK. The smell of the gas vapors should be able to point you close to where the leak is.

 

Could be as simple as you need a new gas cap, thats what I needed when I kept smelling gas outside the car.

 

Underneath? maybe its just the gas cap

Ive seen fuel injectors leak... not cool.
