Default 92 Prelude, Strange starting problem

Ok people, I need help with this 92 Prelude, 2.3L si. This car will start fine for a week or two, but then with no warning it will start and shut right off! Then you can crank & crank & crank it over and nothing! It doesn't fire! Now here's what stumps me! If I pull the coil wire out of the distributor cap and let it hang there, go in the car and crank the engine over for 2 or 3 seconds then stop (it throws blue spark from the coil wire to anything metal), then plug the coil wire back into the distributor cap, and the engine starts right up like normal. Then it will go a week or two again until it does this very same thing, and I repeat the process.
I have replaced, cap, rotor, ICM, spark plug wires and coil wire, fuel filter, and still have the trouble. Then, I checked as many ground wires as I could find and cleaned all of them to make sure there was no corrosion. I even took off the coil and mounting brackets and cleaned all the mounting points. After I cleaned all the ground wires, the problem seemed to go away for about 2 months. Now it has returned again!!! ANY IDEAS please let me know!!! Thanks!

Yeah I had that same problem. The relay stated above. I would let it set for a few minutes after it heated up and after cooling down, it starts..

Why does it start after I pull the coil to distributor cable off, crank it, and then plug it back in. It fires right up! Do I short out the relay or something? This happens anytime it feels like it, engine hot or cold. Well seems like I've tried everything else, so I'll do the main fuel relay also. Thanks for the feedback, and check back in a week or so and I tell you the results! Thanks again!

Ok, just a follow up to you all. I put the new "main relay" in as you all mentioned. So far everythings been good, engine fires right up every time! I am actually starting to gain confidence in this car again! It was interesting trying to get to the bolt that holds it in though. There's no wat to get to it from unter the dash! I had to pull out the gauges, and the speedometer/Tach assenbly. After I did that, I could finally see the bolt. The rest is history! The whole job only took about a half hour, and well....So far so good!

You'll have a lot better luck getting replies if you make a new thread instead of adding to an old one...
