Just Got Timing Tensioner Replaced
I have an extended warranty on my car.. what I am trying to figure out is how to convince the dealer that the problem is my timing belt and that the noise is just not random engine noise..Maybe before I go to the dealer, what I will do is record the engine noise and post the sound file as an mp3 or wma file on this forum

My dealer had no problem hearing and realizing what the noise was. If they give you grief, get them to ride in the car with you driving, find a part of the road where you have to go up a slight incline. Then stop the car, put her in first, and let out the clutch slowly as you start off up the incline. The noise should be most obvious at this point. A driveway that's cut into the road should be enough of an incline, just start with the car at the bottom of the incline and drive her on up. Not sure how this would work if you have an automatic, but you might give it a try also, as the strain on the driveline will be greatest at this point and should reveal the noisey culpret!
