Default Preludes stolen?

Hi there guys, I have (sort of) an '00 Si EBP. It was stolen and stripped, all I got was the shell. I was just wondering is there the same hunt for '97+ Preludes? I was eyeing a 97 SH and the guy offered me a great deal. So my concern is whether it is safe to buy this car and not be paranoid like I was with an Si. I don't have a garage so this is a VERY big concern for me. One car is gone and I cannot keep giving engines away for free to thieves. So any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance, Serge.

Do you have an idea of how it was stolen?

I was interested in whether the car was hot wired, towed, ect. As stated above, any car can be stolen. Prelude's aren't a hot item for theives as far as I know. Your 5th gen is the 3rd I've heard of getting stolen, im sure theres been more but I think its really uncommon.

^Mike, I think he meant his Civic Si got stolen, not a 5th gen prelude.

Anyway, they (Preludes) aren't as hot as say, a ITR, Si, GSR etc. The only thing would be if you had a 4th gen VTEC as they are more rare and have OBDI.

ITR's get stolen left and right. The guy at Honda dealership had me buy the GAP insurance and said it was a good idea because if the car get's stolen, I don't get screwed out of a bunch of money. He made it sound like 5G preludes are high theft priority, but from what I hear, 99-00 civic SI, and ITR's are the one's that get stolen a lot. Actually, a couple days before I bought my prelude, I was looking at 99-00 SI's and I called a guy that had a nice one listed online. He told me "It got stolen last night" So, I'd advise, if you don't want another theft recovery, no 99-00 SI or any ITR's

I don't think I've heard of a 5th gen being stolen yet. There's not as much interest in them from theives.

Alright! Sounds like I should get the 5th gen prelude then. And yeah, I had my 2000 Si stolen. My concern was should I be all paranoid all the time and watch over the Prelude like a hawk all the time? I mean if I repair the Si and keep it I WILL get the LoJack, comprehensive insurance and some pricey alarm AND a safe garage. All that will = some big ass expenses, which I don't have the money for. SO.... Prelude should be a good substitute right? As far as I saw on the online auctions there are not very many Preludes for sale there. Si's on the other hand - oh man!!! 9 out of 10 are theft recovery and stripped to the bone. Thanks for all your inputs.

P.S. H22 swaps are not as popular as b16 and b18 right?
