t25 or t28 on h22
so ive been doing some research on the turbo h22 and since im keeping the internals stock (except for possibly changing the cams later on) but for the most part stock internals, will a t25 or t28 be too small? i dont want to blow the engine up so i want to keep my boost low. what happens at higher rpms with a small turbo? does it completely crap out and quit producing boost? or will is just not make any more psi than what its maximum output is? i think the t25 will be completely spooled w/10psi at like 2 grand on the h22. is 10psi is too much for stock internals?
I don't really see a point to boosting an h22. Unless you have it programmed to spool right before vtec engages or during vtec. You'll never be using it anyway other than first gear. I was thinking about the same thing but it won't ever spool once you get going. Not to mention 10 psi on that crazy compression h22 is going to require an amazing tuner, with such high compression low boost will yield significant hp increases but without superior knowledge you'll probably destroy your motor.
well i talked to a friend of mine and he says he is using a garrett t25 on his ex and it spools 10psi @ 2500rpm so now i think t25 is too small, it would shit out probably at 5000rpm. im going to go t3 intercooled and run 7psi of boost. maybe slightly less. now why would i want it to kick in right before vtec? i really want to get rid of the lack of power at lower rpms thats why i wanted a smaller turbo but i dont think its going to pan out.. does anyone know when a t3 would spool 7psi? and is that going to hold until redline?
