Default A little assistance plz =)

I know quite a bit about engines and I know what I am doing around cars but I am unaware of how to tell what kind of car I have. I thought that every Prelude after 1997 was an SH? I have a 2000 prelude with the high red-line but I am unsure now if it is an SH. I was looking for parts for the exhaust because I want to do all the work myself which I have already gotten new 17" Konigs on it, a new air intake, new spark plugs and wiring and I was moving onto exhaust and noticed a 2000 Prelude and a 2000 Prelude SH.

Can anyone help me find out which one I have? LOL... this is so pathetic but is there some way to tell by the VIN or is the high RPM Red-line the give away?

Thanks for your help.

Also what would be a good shot of nitrous? I am thinking about getting a nitrous kit and installing it as well within the next month and I was thinking the car could probably take a 100 dry shot and be okay as long as I am running enough octane. Thanks for the help everyone.

The difference between the SH (Super Handling) and the Base model is ATTS (Active Transfer System) and an LSD in the tranny I think not 100% sure on that. Look for the ATTS towards the driver side of your tranny its a rather unique looking box if it's not there you have a base. The high redline 7400 is from the VTEC engine that gives you that extra high end edge thats all.

I know absolutely nothing about nitrous, can't help ya there bro.

i dont have a sh but it think that if you turn your key to the On position (the one before the car is turned on) you will see a ATTS box on your guagues. If you dont have one then its a base.

You can tell by the vin.
JHMBB6x4xxxxxxxxx------Base
JHMBB6x5xxxxxxxxx------SH
Basically the 8th caracter in your vin tells you if its a Base or SH, 4 meaning its a Base, and 5 indicating an SH.

i think a 100 shot of nos is quite a bit.. i believe you will wear out your engine quickly. very hard on the internals. you better beef up your cooling system before you do that
