Default Help me out here...

My friend has a 92 Honda Prelude with a H22 swap. He has an AEM intake, skunk2 catback and a Apexi V-AFC Controller. When V-tec hits on his car, it pulls pretty hard. I used to own a modified 3000GT non-turbo dynoing 200whp and this prelude pulled me pretty good. Now, I sold my car and was looking at preludes. I drove a 97 base today and it was extremely slow. You could hardly even feel V-tec if at all. Moreso, the exhaust just got louder. What is the deal here? Am I looking at the wrong model or something? Help me out here.

The 97 said the factory motor died due to oil problems and they said they replaced the engine.

Well, the 92 weighs a bit less., that helps a little bit, also the intake, exhaust add a good bit to his torque which is what helps VTEC pull harder, (Correct me if I'm wrong). Does he have the JDM Type-S engine, Usually comes with a redtop, cause that engine dynos @ 220 hp and with those mods easily comes close to 235-240hp which on a car that light would be reasonably fast. Even with the normal engine though, hes close to 220hp with his mods.

PS. I raced a 97+ lude vtec and kicked his ass, with my stock 92 Si, i think his was stock too, of course then my EGR system wasnt working so I was adding a good 10-15 hp or so. ~ 175hp vs 200hp.

OH man, if he has the type s engine with the aem cai and a skunk2 exhaust (which make some of the better honda exhaust systems, hes probably running about 230-240hp on a car that weighs as little as the 4th gen lude.)

He's gonna go pretty quickly. If you're looking to make the same pull he is from a 5th gen, a good place to start is looking for a type s engine.
