Default car broken into, ignition mess up

my friend 98 prelude jsut got broken into the other day and they fu*k up his ignition. the key cant go into ignition anymore. those low life stole his hundred tennis racket and some shoes of he had in the trunk.

anyway, my question is the ignition key in a prelude the same as in an integra? i mean the setup. i would think it should be the same since it Honda. i was planning to change it for him since he know jack shit about fixing car but i dont want to mess it up anymore then it is. changing out the ignition key isn't too hard is it? any suggestion or advice would be nice.

It can be done, but if you want new keys made, Preludes come with a red "Master" key that the dealer can use to replicate the electronics inside the key handle. If you need everything replaced like the lock cylinder, keys, ignition module, etc... (and want it to be just like it was before) you have to have it done at a Honda dealer. They're the only ones I would trust to order a complete new lock and ignition system and install it properly. The whole system is pretty complicated and you don't want to deal with problems from an inproper install.
