Default exhaust leaks

I had to use an extension pipe and a 2" to 2.5" adapter to get my muffler on and the exhaust seems to be leaking out where the adapter meets the muffler...

What can I use to completely seal the exhaust? For one it sounds bad and it also smells cause the exhaust is getting blown forward out of the seem. I saw some kind of exhaust tape at advanced auto parts but the pictures only showed it being used to cover cracks in a muffler... would this work?

Also would it benefit me at all to take out all the old piping (which is about 2") and put in new 2.5" piping from the cat to the muffler? I dont have a supercharger or anything so I kno it wouldnt make that much of a difference with just my aftermarket headers and intake... And if I did do this could I just run the pipe straight back from the resonator thing behind the cat to the muffler? It seems like a straight pipe would be better instead of having it bend all over the place to get to the muffler like it does now..

Anyways thx for the help

It smells bad cause you drilled the whole in your cat.

Ok first u have 1 header not more than 1 (headers) I say you screwed up. Buy a new complete system that you can just bolt on and not mess with and get a new magnaflow cat. If you can't do it get some1 else to. Don't drill any holes in this 1.

lol, the tape might work, you can also cut a can(fruit can or vegie can like the ones you buy in stores) down on one side and wrap it around the leak and tie it on with wire or clamps...
