Default Swap or turbo?

I got a H23a1 and was wanting some input from you all. So regarding cost and time which would be most beneficial? Swap to the infamous h22 or slap a turbo kit on it. Can the h23's tranny bolt to a h22? Thanks for all the great help...I have to say that HAN has some talented folks

Its basically whatever you want, I heard the H23 is a better setup for Turbo use..Yes the H22 will bolt straight up to the H23 Tranny, the gear ratio will be different from that if you were to use a H22 tranny.

Yeah I heard that about the h23 was better for turbos as well. I think I might do that instead of swapping. Anyone know of any decent priced bolt on kits besides ssautochrome:noes: ?

I know that ssautochrome suposedly sells parts that arnt up to par with the rest of the kits out there. I used to be on that band wagon too. Until about 8 months ago when one of my friends bought a kit from them for $900. He has been running a t3/t4 @ 10psi on his B18 for 8 months and has only had one real problem with it. The turbo blew up about a month after we installed it and he thought like everyone does, they sold me some crap. But upon further observation we realized that we didnt mount the drain line correctly. Which finally built up enough pressure to blow the seals out on the turbo. Plus they replaced the turbo for free. Other than that he hasnt had any problems with it. My advice, buy the ssauto kit (i think they are around 750 now)then if its that big of a deal to you turn around and sell the turbo, manifold, and intercooler. Then go buy a name brand intercooler, turbo, and manifold. Other than that the parts in the kit arnt really going to be any diffrent than what you get in a greddy or rev hard kit(i compared the ssauto wastegate with a real TiAL and couldnt find any major diffrences).. You will still come out alot cheaper than the 3000 for one of those kits. If you are dead set against ssauto then check out the vecco kit on ebay. Its about 1800 but comes with a real turbonetics turbo.

You would really recommend http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA...39967360QQrdZ1
as a starter kit. I ask this cause I have a rev hard turbo manifold and downpipe since I hear that the sschrome turbo manifolds arent that well manufactured.

I have to be honest, because of his kit holding up so well i just bought one last week for my h22a accord. It just came in on tuesday, So I may be a little bias as im talking about it. That kit comes with EVERYTHING all the steel braided and rubber lines, pipes, fittings, flanges, gaskets, missing link, intercooler pipes and couplers, downpipe, manifold, turbo, airfilter, BOV, and wastegate. Like i said i put the ss wastegate up to my friends TiAL and took them both apart, not only are the internals the exact same but you can use the same springs in them to regulate boost. When i first saw my manifold I was like DAMN thats nice. Then I started looking into the pipes and flanges and I was like DAMN who ever welded this thing must have welded it with their eyes closed. The pipes are unevenly cut and welded, to me the manifold was very poorly made. But my friends kit held up so im pretty sure mine will too, But it was all BRAND NEW in the box. That 2 year warranty wasnt a joke either they replaced the turbo no questions asked.

Im planning on upgrading my manifold and turbo once its all setup and i may end up replacing the entire kit later on down the road. But its a damn good start for the money. Also I don't know if it was a mistake in shipping but the downpipe they sent has a two bolt flange welded on it instead of a three bolt flange, its a very easy fix so I still have no complants about the kits.

It comes with ALMOST EVERYTHING you need. The only parts that dont come with it that you need are an fmu, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel pump(if your going that direction which i wouldnt advise) or an ems and injectors which is the way im going.

It just depends on how much boost you are running. Im planning on no more than 10psi. Most of the time I am going to keep it around the 6-8 mark, so 550 will be plenty for me. But thats the great thing about having an ems, it for the most part doesnt matter what size injectors you get(im talking about bigger ones). You could get 1500cc injectors and tune them down with an ems. I wouldnt advise it but it could be done(unless you are running 30+ psi).

I was planning on running the AEM ems, But I just dont have the money. Plus the only guy that can tune h22a's around here to more than 5psi w/o blowing them up, uses the hondata. Im planning on going with a chipped p28 running the S300 though.
