Newbie Mods question
Hi Guys....
few thing s I want to put/do to my 99 lude:
Intake--> AEM
suspension--> Don't know
body kit--> Don't know
can u guys give me some ideas on good suspension set ups? basically I want to improve the handling a bit and get rid of the big ugly fender gap; I want it lower but not slammed, the car is a daily driver so I want something that will provide a descent ride..i understand coilover is the way to go but I don't really want to spend that much money. im actually thinking of Koni Sa and eihbach springs which is the set up i have on my M3 but im not really sure how they will be on the lude.
secondly, I want to put a body kit, are there any oem bodykit for the lude? any suggestions? i don't want anything too busy or too showy...where are the good places to get bodykits and shocks/springs?
TIA

what aem intake are u planning on buying? im not very educated on suspension or really body mods. i guess with the body mods i dont like to many of them other then just the jdm stuff...
I dropped mine about 2" with H & R springs and KYB. Don't forget to invest in a good camber kit no matter what you do. Tire wear has been a great big pain in the ass for me through out my customizing days.
well if you have a 5gen Prelude like i do here is m suggestion:
For suspension:
if you want a smooth almost like stock ride then DO NOT get coilovers. I suggest either getting H&R Sport Springs which will give you 1.4 drop all around and the ride is just like stock ... in my opinion even better. The springs dont sag and they are very well made.
dont drive on stock shocks you will kill them. so spend a bit more and get after market shocks. top of the line is KONI YELLOW but if you dont want to spend top dollar then get Tokicos ILLUMINAS they are 5 way adjustable. You are better off getting the adjustable so you can mess with them soft to stiff if you want to go for a more stiffer one day and soft the next.
You will need some strut bars for front and rear to keep the car chasis stiffer....so get Neuspeed front and a generic rear. DONT get DC SPORTS those bars suck.
Then if you want to go slightly more then i would suggest the Sway bars front and rear. Suspension technique is good for the price.
This alone will make the car handle incredibly.
As far as a body kit... Get URATHANE since its unbrakable..and you can bend it. Fiberglass chips and cracks VERY VERY EASY ...so unless you want to financially support your local body shop or dont mind driving a messed up car with cracks and chips get FIBERGLASS. Urathane is much durable and easy to maintain. The only company that make urathane kits is Wings West ...not too much to choose from ... but they are good quality.
I hope that helped
