Default 92 Prelude, need some help

O.k. guys new to the board here and the Honda scene. I just picked up a 92 Prelude with the 2.3 and a 5 speed. Very nice clean car. No rust or dents, has a 108K on it. I did a full tune up: cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs. But the CEL light is on, and the car has a surging idle. It also it sounds like the rotor is grinding agaist the cap. Checked the dist. shaft and it seems to have a lot of play in it.

Now for my questions.

1. How do I flash the codes on this car. I believe there is a plug somewhere that I have to insert a jumper wire into and count the flashs on the check engine lightl. But where is the plug at on this car. I can not seem to find it.

2. How do I check the timing on this car. I suspect the dist. is going bad and want to see if I am getting an usual timing readings.

I did a search on the forum but could not seem to find the specifics on what I am looking for. So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The plug used to check the codes is in the back of the center console attached to a metal bracket behind the radio. Put your head down by the gas pedal and look between the firewall and the back of the center console, you will see two plugs that aren't pluged into anything. The one you want is blue. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Welcome to HAN.

All you do is find the plug, take a paper clip and bend it to where you can plug it in to both holes on the plug, then count however many flashes or whatever.
