Default 92 Prelude Si with no spark - Help!

I recently aquired a 92 Prelude Si 2.3 liter. The vehicle would run for about a mile and then die. You could start the vehicle after waiting about an hour and it would start - this occurred intermittently and now it has no spark at all no matter how long you wait. The vehicle has power up to the coil but will produce no spark from the coil. I purchased a new coil and the same event occurs. I have attached a tool from the coil lead to the coil wire that measures spark through an indicator light and no light appears. I have voltage in the black/yellow wire of the coil harness while the key is in the run position. I have voltage going to the igniter. The car is stock. I aquired it Saturday from a friend who has owned it since 95. He replaced the distributor 1 year ago. The plugs and plug wires are all new (bosch). The cap and rotor all look clean and new with no cracks. Again, there is power running from the coil wiring harness (black/yellow wire/12 volts) when unplugged from the coil and tested with the key in the run position. Once the wiring harness is plugged in, there is no spark coming from the brand new coil. I jumpered the computer data port and no flashing occurs from the check engine light-it stays solid. All the fuses are good (under the dash and under the hood). The only thing left to do is replace the igniter, cap and rotor but I dont want to throw money at parts if not needed. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might go from here? Can you test the igniter?

Default 2legit2quit is RIGHT!!

Yep - a new igniter solved the problem. Big ups to 2legit2quit. I posted my question on 3 message boards - one of which I had the delightful pleasure of dealing with an egotistical, self praising jerk who felt it necessary to offer me bad advice while putting me down. Why do folks feel the need to prove that their lack of ability must mirror their personality? Anyone? Hellooooo?
Anyway - before I took the advice of 2legit, I looked at his other posts to see if this cat knew what he was talking about - and he does. Anyway - thanks again for participating in this message board to help others and for making this message board available.

peace out y'all...

Matt.

Thanks for the props, glad I could help.

Stick around HAN, I find it to be a lot better than most of the other Honda forums.

go get the igniter from honda. the ones that keep going bad are black, the updated part is brown. if your igniter is not brown, that's probably it. i have the part # somewhere, i'll post it later tonight. you may also want to check your main relay, and while you're at it, replacing your engine grounds couldn't hurt either. those wires are about 14 years old now. i hate throwing parts ($$$) at a problem too, but sometimes ya gotta.
