buying a 2.0SI
Ad doesn't say year, or transmission, but i'm assuming manual cause it needs a new clutch.
220k miles on the clock and the guy wants $500 for it. I'm thinking of checking it out and seeing what its like. I've got an 87 BMW so I really have no idea what to look for to negotiate a price with him. I want something i can track and just kinda go all out with, and I think these cars can handle it and are cheap to fix and replace.
Anyone know what a clutch kit is like for a prelude of this model?
Thanks,
Andrew

Sounds like a hit, from what you know. My attitude about buying a track car is since you're going to end up replacing and modifying so much stuff anyway, and since you're probably going to do most of the work yourself, it's not worth paying top dollar for a car in pristine condition. Idunno if you'll do the clutch yourself, but you'll score if you get a car for cheap because it has broken stuff that you can replace yourself and/or that you will end up replacing whether it's in good condition or not (like suspension).

at that mileage, check for all the usual stuff...leaks, grinds, evidence of crashes, the clutch master cylinder will need replacing if it hasn't been done. those cars are pretty bulletproof, just give it a good test-drive and some love, those things run forever. and those 3rd gen ludes will amaze you with how well they handle. have fun.
