Default speedo doesnt work after new clutch put in

I own a 01 sh and I just got my new clutch and flywheel put in my car has only 65k. I picked up from the clutch shop and as soon as I left my speedo stayed at zero the tach still works and my check engine and atts light stay on. I took it back to the shop 5 min later and they ran the code 17 speed sensor failure. They are closed during the week end so I am taking it back on Monday. Any clues on how to fix this problem. And since I spent over a grand to put in this clutch and flywheel is the shop responsible for these repairs since my car was perfect before I took it in to this shop?

The shop is indeed responsible. Time for you to crack down on some ass.

Maybe the shop is retarded and forgot to plug the VSS sensor back in after the install.

I don't know if your car is the same as mine (mine is a 90 Accord w/manual transmission) but when I replaced my clutch, I had to remove the speed sensor. It was pretty stuck in there even after removing the mounting bolt, so if yours is similar I could see the speed sensor being damaged while trying to remove it. You should see if that was something required to be removed to install your new clutch. Maybe they damaged it removing it or reinstalling it afterwards.

Put in aftermarket vss yesterday now the speedo and the odemeter work fine. No more check engine and atts light anymore. I am returning the honda vss I bought the day before since it was bad.
