Default cylinder head

Hey, is repairing a cylinder head a major project for a DIY job? How much (on average) would such a repair cost in a shop? I keep an eye on the classifieds for any early '90s model Hondas as I wouldn't mind upgrading my car ('90 Civic).

I found a '91 Prelude SR for sale but it needs cylinder head work. I'm not sure of the extent or what the exact problem is but I was just curious if any Prelude owners can give any info and how expensive or serious a problem it can be (in Preludes). The car is for sale at a dealer and is under a grand.

I was told it is a pretty big project but that was just one opinion.

depends on what the damage is. if the head is warped and needs machining, unless you work in a machine shop, it is not a DIY deal.
