Lol, there is no bolt-on attachment that can give you taller gears. But you might be able to swap trannies for a higher-geared unit off another Prelude. What year/trim do you have?

actually there is, it's called a final drive ratio... it acts as a constant multiplier... having a taller final drive will make your car signifigantly slower though....

Can you just swap it in, or do you have to remove the tranny to replace it?

I have an M2L5 tranny sitting around (from an F22A1) and I'm planning to swap in 4th and 5th gears. I'm expecting it to be a major undertaking though.

if the f22 tranny is out of a prelude than its a direct swap, just pull off your other one and replace it with that one. However if that tranny is out of a 4th gen accord it will bolt up to your engine but the mount on the transmission wont line up with the mount in the car. i already tried it in a 93 prelude si because i bought it with a blown engine(timing belt came off of the h23) i had already swapped my h22 into my accord so i had an accord engine and transmission laying around and thought that it would bolt straight up. All the mounts lined up except the transmission mount on the passenger side of the car. The end of the prelude transmission is about 5 inches wider than the tranny thats in the accord

It's out of a Prelude. *phew* My question though, is can you swap in the final drive gear without taking the tranny off? Or 5th and 4th, for that matter?

i am really not looking for speed now i just want a decently quick car that i can take on the HIGHway and not be redlined at 90mph

You're better off tracking down someone's used Prelude S tranny (code M2L5) than buying the gear new, I think. I never even checked what the price of a new gear is, or if it's available, but I scored a 135k tranny for $100 (which I consider cheap), and I'll get to rebuild it on the bench before I take out my perfectly good one, so I know what I'm getting into.
