Clearcoat problems anyone?
Im thinking of buying a 92 prelude, seems to be in wicked shape except for a spot by the front right fender where the clearcoar has started peeling off in a few small patches. Im wondering if this is common on these models? would it be expensive to fix? and would this problem likley happen in other spots on the car a few years down the road? Any info or advice would be appreciated, thanks.
yeah, I have a 92, and the clear coat has worn off on the deck lid, as well as the roof, but not the sun roof. It was a texas car, so it could have contributed, but it is a problem. as far as I know it hasn't spread since I've had it (about a year) It shouldn't be that hard to fix though. If the car is in good shape other than that, it could be fine.
Where is it, and where did it spend most of its life? I had a 93 Prelude from Southern California and the clearcoat got pretty bad. I now have a 94 that I think spent time in a garage and the paint is basically perfect. So I guess it depends on the conditions and the individual car.
