Default wheels tires size?

Hey guys....I am getting an opinion from everyone about the wheel/tire size 225/45/R17 This is the tire that is mounted on the wheels right now that I am going to buy....I have a 92 SR, not lowered/no body kit....will these tires rub at all? And if one day I do want to lower it.....could I? I did see the tire sizing chart, but was wondering if anyone actually had this same size wheel/tire on their car for a personal opinion

Thanks for the help

Well from what I THINK... a 225 is a lil too wide.. I suggest a 205 or a 215 at the biggest... Because i Have a 215/35/R18 and i still have about a inch of wheel gap stock suspension, and my tires have a decent chance of tucking udner the fender. I mena I could be wrong, sum1 else may kno better but i feel with a 225 it may have a smaller chance of clearing the fender as much as a 215 or a 205 wud. I suggest you go witha 215/45/R17.

But as far as for now it will fit no problem and you will have a 1.5 - 2 inch wheel well gap. So you shoudlnt have to worry bout rubbing, until the dropping comes into place.

Yeah, I agree with Davey. I think 225 would be too wide, especially if you drop it in the future.

Hey 2legit2quit....but as it sits stock/no kit, the tire & wheel size will be ok, right? I don't normally keep cars for more than a couple years so I don't think I'll put too much more into the prelude other than some required maintenance, wheels, stereo, & tint....I have a 1999 Isuzu VehiCROSS (SUV imported from the US) too, and most times I drive that....just put 20" wheels on it....teeehee....our winter weather in Calgary isn't great...so I'll save the lude for summers =)

I think it might be a little too wide. I'm not 100% sure though.

So you have a VX? Those things are awesome, I was thinking about getting one . I love the ones with the red leather interior and carbon fiber door panels and trim. Stock Recaro seats as well.

As we said it will be a lil too wide if ur dropping it close to the wheel. itself. But for now it will fit fine no problems at all.

225 will be wide in deed for a drop...but it depends on how low u r planning to go...I close to 3 inches low, and i m rolling with 215 40 17...with no problems...pics can be found in my garage

you guys are trippin. 225 is plenty wide/narrow enough to fit in a lude wheel well. esp since i've shoehorned 235's in w/ no rub, and some have put 245's in with some rubbing.

it's the 45 that's the problem. the tire is too tall, and might rub slightly in the rear at stock ride height. otherwise, depending on the offset of the wheel, it should be fine. The car will also feel slow as dirt with wheels that tall because it'll lengthen your overall gearing.
